The Movement of People Affected by Dams in Brasil (@MAB_Brasil) need international support!

Once again history repeats itself as a tragedy. On one side, Vale SA, a major worldwide mining company, and on the other, the Brazilian people gathering bodies sunken in the mud of criminal enterprises. A Call for international solidarity.

Message from MAB:

Once again history repeats itself as a tragedy. On one side, Vale SA, a major worldwide mining company, and on the other, the Brazilian people gathering bodies sunken in the mud of criminal enterprises.

We of the Movement of People Affected by Dams - MAB communicate very sadly the rupture of another mine tailings dam of the company Vale S.A happened in Brumadinho (state of Minas Gerais) last Friday, January 25, around midday. Data are still being collected, but so far there are 60 fatalities, 305 people missing, 192 people rescued, losses of animals and vegetation not yet estimated. There is the risk of a water dam breaking, which could lead to even greater spread of the mud.

Help out with donations:

The Movement of People Affected by Dams in Brazil has mounted a a campaign for financial support from the international community. The goal of the campaign is to collect funds to strengthen the organization of the people affected from Brumadinho, sending brigades to support the families who lost everything and relatives of the victims within the guarantee of their rights. You can also contribute! MAB asks for your support to send brigades to support the families victims of the crime.

My personal appeal:

Dear family, friends and acquaintances,

While I am thousands of miles away in New York City this tragedy has struck too close to home. As many of you know i have some strong personal ties to the Movement of People Affected by Dams in Brazil @MAB.Brasil and the people of Minas Gerais. In the summer of 2015 I was blessed to spend six weeks in Brazil meeting people directly affected by dam construction and hearing first hand how these dam projects have negatively affected the lives of Brazilians. Some four months later the tragedy of Mariana happened. Now we have another tragedy in Brumadinho-MG. Please support MAB and the people of Minas Gerais if you are able.

In solidarity,

Robert Robinson
