A delegation of the Platform will be received at the United Nations in Geneva
On the 28th and 29th April 2008, a delegation of four persons, representing NGOs and trade unions will submit an alternative report to the French government’s third periodic report on the situation of economic, social and cultural rights in France to the United Nations’ International Committee on Economic, Social and Cultural rights in Geneva.
French Platform for Economic, Social and Cultural Rights underlines that discriminatory practices are increasingly becoming a part of the social field, and that their intensification is undoubtedly a barrier to accessing economic, social and cultural rights.
By analysing access to rights, the alternative report identifies attacks on economic, social and cultural rights in France. It underlines the need to make these rights in our national legislation effective and clearly outlines many recommendations by the NGOs and the trade unions that prepared this alternative report.
From the collective approach of writing the alternative report, the associations and trade unions of the Platform are preparing a grassroots educational campaign on the respect and promotion of economic, social and cultural rights in France and throughout the world.
